Madonna, now 53 and a mother of 3 is about to go on the longest tour of her career with 90 dates scheduled worldwide. She has ranked in the number one spot for four consecutive weeks along with Iron Maiden, Van Halen and the Beach Boys. Others in the top spots are Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Buffett and Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw along with Roger Waters, Neil Diamond and Coldplay.
Madonna will start her tour on June 14th in Milan, Italy and continue to Berlin, Germany and Paris, France then off to Zurich, Switzerland and Nice, France before heading to the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. Tickets sold out within minutes and prompted additional shows to be added at New York’s Yankee Stadium and other venues in Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C. and even Toronto. Even the secondary market for ticket brokers is selling out fast in most major cities.
In a few weeks her studio album MDNA will be coming out and her single “I’m Addicted” is certain to get a lot of play along with “I Don’t Give A” which some say is actually a dig at Guy Ritchie, her ex-husband. The album is set to release on March 27 in the USA. Madonna has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and is recognized as the world’s top-selling female recording artist of all time by the Guinness World Records.
Many of her songs have hit number one on the record charts, including “Like a Virgin”, “Papa Don’t Preach”, “Like a Prayer”, “Vogue”, “Frozen”, “Music”, “Hung Up”, and “4 Minutes” and “I’m Addicted” is expected to be join as one of her newest hits in years.
Madonna has been appeared in many films including “Desperately Seeking Susan” and received critical acclaim and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her role in “Evita” in 1996. She has been an author of children’s books, film director, producer and even a fashion designer. According to the Recording Industry Association of America she is the best-selling female rock artist of the 20th century and the second top-selling female artist in the United States, with 64 million certified albums. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked Madonna at number two, behind only The Beatles, on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists, making her the most successful solo artist in the history of the chart.
Madonna is currently scheduled for two nights at Yankee Stadium on Sept. 6th and 8th and two nights in Toronto, Canada on Sept. 12th and 13th before heading to Chicago on Sept. 19th and 20th for two nights at the United Center. She will also be performing two nights at the Key Arena in Seattle, the HP Pavilion in San Jose, and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA before heading to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas where I will be seeing her on both nights, October 13 and 14.
