Are You Going To The Kentucky Oaks Or The Kentucky Derby?

The first Saturday in May is the Kentucky Derby held annually in Louisville at the Churchill Downs. The Kentucky Oaks is held the day before on Fri, May 4 at 1:00 PM.

The Derby is frequently referred to as “The Run for the Roses,” because a lush blanket of 554 red roses is awarded to the Kentucky Derby winner each year.

In 2010 Calvin Borel set a new record, being the first jockey to win 3 out of 4 consecutive Kentucky Derbys. In 2007, HM Queen Elizabeth II, on a visit to the United States, joined the racegoers at Churchill Downs. The attendance at the Kentucky Derby ranks first in North America and usually surpasses the attendance of all other stakes races including the Preakness Stakes, Belmont Stakes and the Breeders’ Cup.

NationalShowTickets has tickets to all events at the Churchill Downs in Louisville.
